A mehfil is to Hindustani classical music what chamber music is to the Western tradition. Traditionally, a mehfil was an intimate musical performance for select gathering of connoisseurs, usually the guests of a patron. Today, a mehfil borrows the intimacy of the space and the immediacy of the musical experience. Aymen Arts organises regular mehfils in the Rochdale–Manchester area with some of the finest upcoming talent of traditional South Asian music, as well as some of the established greats.
We firmly believe that the best way to build an abiding audience is to bring them in contact with the real deal. This is also our way of giving back to the community. Everyone is welcome to join our mehfils.
